Let’s talk about Vinsetta Garage.
Located on the iconic Woodward Avenue, it used to be one of the longest-operating garages in Detroit, and was definitely known as one of the most popular among residents. Closed as a garage in 2010, new owners bought it with the hopes of turning it into an eclectic restaurant serving American comfort food, while still maintaining the sentimental value of the building. Pretty much all the decor in Vinsetta was once part of the original garage, from lights made out of old carburetors, to original tools hung on pegboards on the walls, to actual Vinsetta repair slips that were used as wallpaper in the waiting area. It’s just an outstanding atmosphere.
Now for the food. Man, I wish I could have ordered one of everything!! They had tons of amazing build-your-own options for pasta bowls and pizzas, and many of their options had delicious twists on typical American comfort food. I ended up getting the Noodleburger mac+cheese with a side of hand-cut fries with tomato aioli, and then for dessert I had the Faygo ice cream with a dusting of Pop Rocks. Everything was totally on point. I wish I was from Detroit because I would probably eat at Vinsetta every other day.
