In a world where the absurd and the familiar seemingly collide at an accelerating rate, my paintings act as a pinhole-camera view of this chaos—a view distorted by the incongruent presence of childhood cues and symbols. The combination of innocence and ugliness gives the viewer a feast of concepts to sort through, ranging from mundane to challenging references about contemporary society.
Stephen Gibb is a Canadian painter who works with oil on panel.
