“It’s a Sony” The Sony Exhibition in Japan
Before Apple and its popular consumer products like iPhone, iPod and iTunes, there was Sony.
In 2017, Sony Japan is celebrating its platinum anniversary—that’s 70 years in business—with a new exhibition entitled “It’s a Sony.” On display at the postmodern Sony Building in Tokyo’s Ginza district, this massive retrospective shares the company’s storied past, present and future with the public.
Opened on November 11, 2016 to February 12, 2017, Part One features a comprehensive collection of classic Sony entertainment products including pop culture favorites like the PlayStation, the Walkman, the Discman, and many others.
Then, in Part Two, opening from February 22, 2017 to March 31, 2017, a wide array of artist installations will be shown throughout the building based on the theme of “Park of the Future”, a reference to the new design of the Sony Building transforming it into a “vertical park.”
There will also be a diverse event program launched in anticipation of the new Ginza Sony Park opening sometime in 2018.
