Beyond Blonde Steve Hiett
We are happy to share a few pages of our collaborations with Steve Hiett from the book Beyond Blonde : a look back on five decades of colorful, poetic and hyperreal photographs.
If you are in Milan, (this is where you should be if you are a fashion week addict) there will be tomorrow, a lecture, a book signing and an exhibition until the 3rd of April at Galleria CARLA SOZZANI, 10 Corso Como slow concept shop (where else could it be?) and you really should go !
We have been working with Steve from the very beginning of SPOON : originally the first pictures we made together were not even supposed to be printed, but only for "the internet" as we used to say back in 96. This was pretty nice from an already very well-known photographer to collaborate with us, allowing us to publish these images for a screen only magazine, and having faith in our awkward choice ! They finally ended to be printed in our first paper issue, ever since, we always asked him to make all our covers : no exceptions.
None of any of the magazines we started, were done without some pictures from Steve inside, and for over twenty years now, our love for colour, fashion photography, photography, Art, books and magazines publishing were bound. Collaboration ended up in an unfailing friendship (rare enough in this industry to be said), and of course, some more work together when we decided to reboot SPOON Magazine two years ago.
As often history repeat itself, it was bold and trustful again from a "not-any-longer-underrated" photographer to work with a restarted after a 10 years pause, on demand digitally printed, and ad-free magazine.
