Silent Street is a new collaborative label from Chris Farrell (Idle Hands) and Kiran Sande (Blackest Ever Black), for their first released they're reissuing I Can’t Stand It Here On Quiet Nights, in their own words "a compilation of singles by one of our shared musical lodestars; Bristol’s extraordinary Maximum Joy."
And, fuck yes, they were extraordinary. The made a carefully put together melange of punk, modern jazz, disco, dub, funk, soul, early hip-hop, afrobeat. The amazing thing is it does sound like all of those genres, but yet it manages to feel effortless and casual like, as if they were regular folks making pub rock for pub goers.
Highly recommended, geddit here!
