Dungeon synth is weird, man. It’s a genre that was sort of created by Mortiis, and (nazi asshole) Burzum, but also Fenriz and whole other bunch of black metal dudes that took a slight detour from their beefier works into a medieval ambient forest of dungeons and dragons lore.
Now, it’s not really big, might be one of the last truly underground movements, bu taking all the racist crap aside (a lot of black metal and metal on general needs to have a serious talk on the subject), there are some amazing records to be found and, tbh, you’d be on the safe side just by skipping Burzum (Grimrik , one of the biggest names in DS, has talked publicly about wanting dungeon synth to NOT have a political agenda).
But make sure you check Barak Tor out, he’s like a dungeon synth genius whose last record plain sounds like a dang soundtrack for the epicest Lord of the Rings movie ever.
