This week we followed up on the new profile design and added support for longer bios. We also added a special, “social icon” integration, but more on that below. There’s still a few more enhanced profile features to come, so hang tight. Watching a post is now on iOS. And we made some subtle, but significant updates to the Discover experience across all platforms.
We kicked off the Hi-Fructose x Ello Emerging Artist Showcase, an amazing opportunity to be published in Hi-Fructose New Contemporary Art Magazine and/or win 1 of 4 — $1,000 art grants, or 1 of 4 — $500.00 community-voted art grants. Keep reading for more details.
Profile Social Icons
To clean up the links section on your profile, we now look for and detect certain links and convert them into icons. To start, we’re detecting the following services:
Cargo Collective, Persona, Bandcamp, Instagram, Mixcloud, 500px, Soundcloud, SnapChat, Patreon, Twitter, Dribbble, Flickr, Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Github, Google+, Good Reads, Deviant Art, Pinterest, Model Mayhem, Threadless, Behance, Vimeo, Etsy, LinkedIn, Society6, Tumblr, Medium, DailyMotion, YouTube, Shopify, Facebook - and of course, Ello.
Leave a comment if you are interested in seeing other services added. This is just a start.
See More Bios
You can now share a longer bio on Ello. This is the first step towards building a personal “About” section on your profile. Click the “See More” button to see a full bio.
We’ve already noticed some places where this new experience isn’t working optimally. We’ll be iterating on this release in the near future.
Sticky Discover Nav
Now when you scroll down on the Discover page, the category sub-nav will stick to the top. This way you can quickly explore categories without scrolling back to the top.
Watch a Post on iOS
Keep up with conversations on iOS. Just tap the button to watch or unwatch a post.
Hi-Fructose x Ello Emerging Artist Showcase
The Hi-Fructose x Ello Emerging Artist Showcase will feature 16 artists in a special insert in the next print issue of Hi-Fructose New Contemporary Art Magazine (January 2017) and a special Ello online feature. Hi-Fructose New Contemporary Art Magazine is always looking to discover emerging artists, and Ello - the Creators Network - endeavors to provide visibility and opportunity for the abundance of talented creators like you, on our platform.
