A Keyboard in the Kitchen
"I've put a keyboard in my kitchen." He said.
"I played the piano...
It was a long time ago." He continued.
"But I think it's okay to relive the past sometimes, you know? ...So long as you give it a fresh perspective."
As he spoke his eyes appeared to be attempting to focus on something far in the distance. The tone of his voice suggested his mind was searching for it, too.
"I don't know, it just feels like it's time to see if I can't learn to tickle some life out of these old black and whites." He said.
Silence filled the air for a moment as he let out a sigh. Having brought his eyes back into focus he continued.
"And besides, the kitchen already seems purpose built for creating things. I'm not sure food is much different than music. It just fills up a different part of you is all."
As the air outside continued to cool the two men sat on a couch listening to a record player. Joni Mitchell's bird-like singing was fluttering out of the speakers carried on the wind of her piano. The song Blue had just come on. The two had something of an unspoken agreement. So long as Blue was playing nobody could speak. It wasn't so much an unspoken agreement as a universal truth that they both happened to acknowledged.
I think in order to improve my writing skills I'm going to take excerpts of my life and piece them together on Ello in a sort of narrative form. They won't always be honest. They may be writings of how I wished events had happened. Or they might be "inspired" by true events.

This post also appears on FRAMES, my mixed-purpose online blog. Feel free to visit, browse, and subscribe if you like what you see. There will most likely be a fair amount of cross-publishing with my Ello page and my blog. However, there is likely to be things I publish only on my blog and vice-versa.
