Whenever I read a really well written and constructed short story, I'm torn between utter admiration and wanting more. Little snippets of a bigger idea that remains locked away in its creator's heart and mind and soul. We've only gleamed a piece of that fragment of worlds they can bring to us. Sometimes that has to be enough. Doesn't stop the theories and ideas beyond the last words imprinted on the page and upon our eyes. Its words leave an everlasting impression, when done right. And they should.
At times I fervently wish I had a flair for writing short stories but alas I overachieve with them and end up with novel length ideas instead. I'm trying though with my TruthSlayers Anthology. Considered a prequel idea to my present day storyline of my long time project known as TBJC, this anthology belongs to the TAGP series I've started over 5yrs now. Originally the idea was to introduce the thirteen individuals that made up this group called TruthSlayers since they were in search of the real truths surrounding their world. The idea I would cater a story to each of their voices came to me only recently because there were just so many overlapping voices of various kinds. It's taken a fair bit of time to seriously work on it but I'm satisfied with what I've done so far. I only wish I was more further along with all the background related details that are pivotal to many of these tales, otherwise gaps form and the original meaning in their tales may be misunderstood or simply missed and forgotten. I don't want that to happen.
Everyone has a story--is the concept and motto for the TruthSlayers Anthology, since each character have different aspects they have either only begun to explore, growing accustomed, becoming more comfortable, befriending--basically surrounding themselves with those whom accept them for who they are as an individual.
I'll probably post snippets on here, but the current titles I've figured out, out of the thirteen, are:
THE GIRL WHO EXISTED
THROUGH BLOODSTAINED EYES
WITHIN HIDDEN SHADOWS
NEW CROWNS OF OLD
WHEN DOVES CRY
INK AND BONES
bonus story (possibly) A WAITING WORLD
