I am so indebted to Ben Brooksbank for being able to use his original background photo of Bristol Temple Meads Station so I could adapt it to my poetic needs....
Ben agreed by email for me to use it : "All you need do is to quote my name as original photographer, under the Creative Commons Share-alike Licence Arrangement." He has given me permission to use it in a book I am trying to pull together ... The page above is a page of that "Adoptee Lifebook Poetry Book"
My sister and I did indeed use Temple Meads in 1955. 1956, and in 1957 (the fateful year of our original parents splitting up) ... Railway journey's away from a secure home etc really did affects us badly throughout our lives of partial dissociative post trauma.
Pam though was kept by my gene mom and I was unceremoniously dumped off in 1957 to another part of the extended family in Birmingham where I was virtually exiled.....The evidence was my father had took me back to Bristol on a previous 1955 separation and my mother outmanoeuvred him in 1957 by putting me in a place with people he did not know. He was though, already too devastated by her to fight back and in 1957 he was recovering from a suicide attempt after several years of marital instability with her.
