The Introverted Indie Author Podcast
I have loved podcasts for a long time, obsessively listening to any I can get my hands on. I have loved writing for even longer. So, some time after I jumped into the indie writing/publishing world (I have 2 books currently available) I decided to merge those two loves. Podcast and writing, that is, not bacon and dead-lifting, though I love those two things as well. Pickles and Saosin hit the sweet spot too, but that's not what this is about.
Anyway, though I am a painfully awkward introvert who has a history of manic depression and social anxiety (still do, but I'm better than I was. I swear), I decided to create my own podcast. I put together a silly logo, got all the infrastructure in place, and with my broken headset and free software, set out to find other writers who just wanted to chat. And I fell into a well of wonder. We're six episodes in, and I have another 10 waiting to go, and it's been awesome!
Recently, I found my long lost nerd brother in author Evan Pickering, and spent an hour chatting with the brilliant Ksenia Anske where we frequently lost the conversation threads and ended up on tangents. No matter where I look, I've found writers willing to take time and just chop things up with me. I still feel awkward about the whole process, and it can be draining, but it is also thrilling beyond measure. Sometimes it triggers my mania and I have to beat it down with a stick, but that's exciting too. I've talked about various writers' techniques, books, the landscape of indie publishing, how to handle feedback, living with depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, D&D, music, and so much more. (some of those topics are on yet to be released episodes).
So, if you want to listen to the rough beginnings of a podcast about writing, life, and being people, then give it a shot. I like to think every episode is better than the last, on my part, but that's probably a lie. Because all I can be is me. And I can be awkward.
Anyway, give it a listen.
