Discourse for the 2016 election
I have had some time now to let the election results sink in. At this point, I am past the anger, disappointment & alarm which I felt initially. There are two thoughts that I want to express.
The first, is that these United States in which I have been living in for 35 years, has never felt less united. Regardless of your opinion of Donald Trump, what he has accomplished more than anything is to emphasize & perpetuate nothing but negativity. With him as the headpiece of this country, all the like-minded individuals will feel as if they have free range to do & say as they please. One can argue that it is the price of freedom. I personally would argue that in the wrong hands, even something as benevolent as freedom can be dangerous.
My second sediment is to extend an emphatic hand to all that oppose Donald Trump & the country's decision to elect him. To all women, to all immigrants, legal or otherwise, to all muslims, to all homosexuals, to all those with mental or physical disabilities, to everyone with the common sense to see him for what he is, now is the time to stand strong, to stand proud, & most importantly, to stand together. Do not let this flawed man or his followers best you in any way. It is how he will win more than the presidency & if we fail in that, we fail as the evolved society we all claim to be.
I have much more to say, but for now, I thank you for letting me vent & wish EVERYONE be well.
