There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.
- Martin Luther King jr
There comes a time when silence is betrayal.
We have all been taught flexible morality and destructive obedience. To give our conscience the cold shoulder.
We all have the ability to suffer pain and loneliness.
We pay people to do things we wouldn't do personally and just because we don't see the suffering it causes up close does not mean we are not responsible for it.
"We are family. Together on one planet. Of the 5 million species on this planet, only one has the power to determine what level of suffering is acceptable for all other sentient life to endure" -Damien Mander
May others realize their responsibility in the modern world to know that by not stepping in on things their conscience tells them is wrong is to be part of the passive problem.
We are all to blame. Not making a decision or not taking an action is a decision and action in itself. So why not make it count? Why not do what's best for the heart and soul of the earth and ourselves?
If you sit and allow yourself to be passive and just watch then you have no logical or emotional ground to give an opinion or be outraged. Otherwise we are a world built on flexible morality which just makes us all hypocrites.
