Okay, so the holidays are upon us. You know what this means? Shopping! Either online or at the mall, you and I want to CHARGE IT! Having the right credit card can make your holiday shopping a gift for you as well as your recipients.
That's why I've come up with a list of my top five credit cards for the holidays. There is no scientific method when choosing the cards. I've selected credit cards based on what financial situation you may find yourself.
Each person is looking for something different in a good credit card. With that said, here are my top five in no particular order:
A) For those looking to transfer a credit card balance, try the Discover it credit card. If you qualify and you're approved, you can get a 0% rate on balance transfers for up to 18 months! There's no annual fee, too. And, in your first year, Discover will match all the cash back you earn. No joke! The Discover it card is a real stocking stuffer for savvy shoppers like you!
B) If you want excellent travel rewards, try the Capital One Venture Rewards credit card. This travel rewards credit card offers 2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases. And there's no limit on earning points, either. The Venture card also has no foreign transaction fee when traveling abroad. There is an annual fee though of $95 after the first year of using the card.
C) For those who like having cash back with their purchases, try the Chase Freedom card. You can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories. Those categories include gas stations, restaurants, and drug stores. The bonuses awards are for each quarter you activate. There's no annual fee, and you may also qualify for an intro 0% APR for 15 months from account opening. How sweet is that?
D) For those who want a card with a low regular APR, look no further than the BBVA Compass ClearPoints Visa credit card. The intro APR is 0% on purchases for thirteen months. The rate is 0% on balance transfers for 12 months, depending on your creditworthiness. After your intro APR ends, variable rates on the card range from 12.24% to 30.24% based on your creditworthiness. You get 3x rewards points based on categories you choose with no annual fee. Nice!
E) Finally, for those who love Amex, there's the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card. The card lets you earn 2 Starpoints for every $1 spent at participating Starwood hotels. All other purchases earn 1 Starpoint for every $1 spent. The points can be redeemed for stays at participating hotels and airlines. There are no foreign transaction fees when spending with the Starwood card abroad. There is a $95 annual fee however after the first year of use.
So, there are my top five credit cards I'd love to have. How about you? What's your favorite credit card to shop around? Leave a comment below, won't you?
