My throat doesn't hurt anymore.
I touched it, wondering why the pain was gone
and how it left
what was the catalyst that
let my voice spill out
idealistic and staunch, exact and clear
i saw it.
she was staring back at me in the mirror
clenching her fists tight, nodding
yes, sweet girl, that's right
i ripped it square out, your splinter.
you never needed it anyway.
they just told you you did.
you sure thought you did too.
i wouldda done is sooner if youda let me.
for some reason, they call it something else there in your world.
so, you just got used to it somehow.
i think sometimes youd convince yourself you liked it
made it easier to swallow
but now, oh now
that ring come out
so so pretty
enjoy those melody eyes
those thighs that can't stop seeking, singing more to fill them
embrace all of this and then shove all that passion
onto the page or canvas or what not
until the a-tro-phy ache stops
and it will,
because you is
you is song itself
