I've seen a lot of controversy about authors speaking up about politics lately.
Several have said, being an author is a business so you should remain neutral.
I don't see being an author simply as a business. For me it is a calling. I have always been an artist, an author and an activist. I will fight for what I believe in and make my voice heard.
Aritists are often the ones to speak the loudest when change needs to occur. And this includes all artists- musicians, actors, poets, visual artists, and authors.
Should Meryl Streep have remained silent at the Golden Globe? Should all the actors, authors, artists and musicians been silent at the Women's March?
Should Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Gloria Steinem, Winona LaDuke, Betty Friedan, Bell Hooks, Audre Lorde and many many others have remained silent?
