Wrote another 2,800 today! I'm on a roll. I enjoy writing in the evenings. I get my mojo that way. I write non-stop and no pee breaks. I think I'm channeling my writer and becoming proactive post college. I seriously thought I was going to turn to mush and not want to do anything since I have completed my bachelor's degrees, but I kid you not, this is a passion of mine and I'm doing damn good.
I'm just shy of 41,000 for my first draft. I am excited to finished working on this. I'm hoping 70K for my first draft and I will begin to do a round of edits. Tick-tock.
I think I'm off to read Nora Roberts and research more romance for my romance novel.
And alas, a piece of my gatherings from today.
Tessa knew he was right and was protecting not only her, but her family as well. She smiled and walked out of the kitchen thinking Mark was satisfied with his answer. Tessa didn’t think that Mark was capable of fully loving her, but she was wrong.
The following several days and nights seemed to go well. Mark and Tessa spent more time together, cooking meals, Tessa would help him in the studio for an extra set of hands, cleaning and spending time playing cards or reading by the fire over the cold winter months. Tessa loved curling up on the couch with a book while Mark rubbed her feet or read next to her. Her feet always propped up on his lap for optimal comfort. Occasionally, Robert would stop in and see how she was doing. Mark and Tessa would both inform him on what was going on with Daniel, at least what they knew thanks to the cops. Tessa had made connections again with Samantha, and she did a thorough job at updating her as often as she could. Last she had heard, he was still in the state of New Jersey, not far from where Mark was living. With Mark easing up on her presence in his home, things became more lively and enjoyable.
Mark’s phone went off. He left the room to answer it, leaving Tessa in the living room reading. She stopped where she was and listened in on Mark’s call. She heard that he had to take a trip, but was not sure where or when that would be. For all she knew, this was just talk and nothing serious. The idea intimidated her, being left alone with a creep for a husband laundering around New Jersey. She pondered if she would be able to go with him. Hearing him close the conversation, she went back into her book. As Mark walked back in, her head moved upward, giving Mark her full attention.
Mark set his phone on the table. “Do you want to be my date for a gala up in New York this weekend?”
Tessa lit up. “Really?”
“Yeah, I have to go make an appearance, and I would like it if you were my plus one. Maybe we can pick up where we left off back in August.”
“Yes, I would love that.” Tessa smiled. She wanted to get back into her book, but knew she had to go find a dress for the party. “I’ll have to go into town and get a dress, but that’s fine.”
“I’ll give you my card and keys.”
Tessa gained a quizzical look on her face. “Really? What if I get questioned?”
“Nah, have them call me if anything.”
“Okay, I think that would work. I will leave in the morning so I can be back by dinner.”
“Then it’s settled.” Mark sat on the couch and picked up his book and Tessa hers.
