I have to admit that friendships end.
People with whom I’ve been friends for years, if we met today I wouldn’t be able to stand them.
That sounds so terrible. They’re not necessarily bad. They’re just bad for me.
Two of my “best” friends, I stayed with while I was on vacation. They’ve lost their senses of humor. These are people that used to recognize the importance of humor in the face of tragedy. These are people who used to make random harmless jokes that they now get really sensitive about.
I thought life experience was supposed to make us stronger, not weaker.
Tougher, not more sensitive.
I don’t know who they are anymore. I can tell they feel the same way.
We’re holding on to something we used to have because letting it go feels like we wasted all of that time.
We’re not broken. It’s not like a tragic event happened and we need to break up. We’ve simply drifted.
If all we have is history, then maybe that’s all we should be.
