I love dog-sitting.
I have five different friends in LA who I watch their dogs whenever they’re out of town.
Some of the dogs I watch, I’ve watched since before I found my cat.
Two of those dogs (the ones I’ve watched since before I found my cat) get along really well with my cat.
I’m not talking about the kind of professional relationship where the dog and the cat can coexists but they don’t interact. I mean the dog and my cat play like crazy.
It’s so cute.
Yesterday, I had such a strange feeling that I don’t understand. My cat and this dog were playing on the couch. They were lying on their sides and batting their paws at one another. I watched, fascinated. Then they stopped playing, curled up against me and one another, and fell asleep.
I almost had a sense of accomplishment, knowing my cat had made a friend.
I know it’s weird, and it’s probably just me impressing human emotion onto my cat; but it felt so real, and so powerful.
I really like my cat.
I’m still a dog-person, but I love my cat.
I definitely love dog-sitting.
