I am Samuel Lartz

A very old story that has been tweaked here and there... one of my first short stories that i found decent, and it still exists. I once wrote a 9 page or so story in school, but I never saved it.
"I am Samuel Lartz. I stood in the cold, white, and crisp hallway to my school. The air flowed to my lungs as I took a deep breathe: I am 15. The bright lights bounced off the white marbled floor, redirecting back to my retinas in a quick, efficient fashion. It was nearly blinding: I am the average, the normal, the typical. I am Samuel Lartz.
I've been going to school for as far as I can remember: I've passed all the grades; but not with flying colours. Sometimes just barely, and the teachers are never impressed.
"Hi Sam!" My friend Ariel shouted; she had straight dark brown hair cut at shoulder length, heavy like a swamp; bright green, earthy eyes as if she was caught under a wonderful curse that left her succumbed to the earth's will. Like liquid moss, her eyes swim, acquiring all the detail in the world as they struck a cold and curious gazes. Her face was thin, but bold and filled with life like a reanimated corpse brought back by a skilled wizard in a dark, earthy swamp at the earth's heart. Raising her from the earth's mucus, singing with praise. "There you are! Where have you been?" She asked me. "Sick." Was my reply; simple, and to the point. I had been piled with homework, and had barely even gotten the bare minimal done; my teachers would not be impressed, as usual. Ariel then reached her hand out, patting my back with friendly force. "C'mon, I'll see you after school with Samuel! I promise I won't keep you waiting, but you've got classes' don'tcha, Sam?" She then gave me a light shove with the hand that was resting on my back, directing me towards the direction of my class just as the bell rang. She spun on her heel, giving a wave and running off to her own classes. "See ya!" She shouted with a chirp as she disappeared behind the bright glow that bounced off the cold floor, her shoes clicking against the very same, beaming floor.
Time flew by, and soon I was at my own door.
I unlocked my door, slinging off my backpack and throwing it to the floor. I locked the door with my bronze coloured key, making a satisfying click noise as it safely locked. I made my way to the bathroom, grabbing my metallic blue toothbrush that shone in the bright light. I opened the cap of toothpaste, and brushed the paste onto the brush bristled in a single motion as I shoved the brush in my mouth, brushing away plaque and the scent of food I've had throughout the day.
I rinsed my mouth out, putting the objects that have kept me cavity free for many years, away. I walked to my bedroom, sliding open my drawers and grabbing a grey pajama top, and just as grey pajama bottoms and clean white boxers. I slipped all my clothing on, switched the lights off and crawled into bed with a yawn.
Then a blood piercing scream as I wakes from a night terror. I sprung up, looking around. "Ariel..?" I say under his breathe, as I had just seen her dead in his dream.
Once again, time flew by. I passed the daily motions, secretly worrying for Ariel. I had this horrible, churning feeling as if something was rotting inside the pit of my stomach. More time passed, just a few days and I decided to take a stroll in the local forest...
I looked down, the scene was surreal.
Something I thought to have only seen in my head...
My eyes grew wide as I truly realized the true intensity of what I was staring at; Death.
The death of my friend, Ariel.
Her murky hair thrown about in random directions. Her face pale and full of life as ever. But her eyes. A cold, stare of death that could see nothing anymore. She lay there, covered in mud from a swamp, from the place it looked like as if she were born. Her body was slowly sinking into the earth itself; the moist mud crawled up her clothing, splattered across her face. The earth was claiming her once again. She was truly gone."
