Child's Pose (Balasana)
Child's Pose is a great gentle pose to relax in. it stretches out the hips, thighs, and lower back and relaxes the neck, head and shoulders.
Let's Get Started!
Start in an all fours position, hands under the shoulders, knees under the hips, with the tops of the feet flattened down into the mat. Widen the knees apart allowing the two big toes to touch.
Take a nice deep Inhale and as you exhale lower the hips back and down over the heals allowing your torso to fall down between the thighs (you may need to adjust the width between the knees depending on your body type :) Allow the forehead to relax down onto the mat stretching the arms out long towards the front of the mat, palms facing down.
Rest In this poes for at least half a minute to as long as you feel your body needs.
To come out of this pose take a nice deep inhale and lift the hips up and forward, back into an all fours position. *Avoid this pose if you have high blood pressure, eye or ear infections, ankle problems or knee injuries. Always listen to your body! :) tension is good but come out of any yoga pose if you experience pain and talk to your doctor.
Remember these are simple instructions, if you looking to deepen the pose or wanting to connect different poses in a flow join a yoga class near you!
