In our demanding world, meditation is not only a soothing practice, it is a necessity for the soul. TV advertisements, boisterous peers, and influential messages from every which direction are not only distracting to the average individual - young or old - they are often incredibly overwhelming.
For this reason, the art of meditation is increasing in popularity. Not only have wise teachers promoted the benefits of ‘quieting one’s mind’ for centuries, but now science is also validating the benefits one may experience from sitting in contemplation for at least 15 minutes per day.
Some of the well-known benefits of meditation include: lowering of blood pressure, decrease in anxiety, increase in creativity, improved immune system, increase in seratonin (feel-good neurotransmitter) levels, and many, many more benefits. Check out a great list here.
