Self portrait No. 25
Elmar the band manager
Today was my first day of teaching at school after the lockdown. It was weird. Only a third of my pupils was present with 1,5 meter distance in between. The halls of the school were empty and marked with arrows for the walking direction. Every used pencil, brush or tube of paint had to be sterilized after usage. It was good to see my pupils again, but I miss the crowds and the rush of a normal school day. If every school day would be like this, I wouldn't love to teach as much as I do.
This makes me wonder what kind of job I'd have if I wouldn't be an art teacher, graphic designer or illustrator. I like to think I would be a band manager, like I was about 15 years ago.
The band was called Lolly Jane Blue and had some amount of success, especially with our music videos online. Fans from over the world were covering our songs and when we performed abroad, the crowds knew all the lyrics! I was the one arranging everything behind the scenes, from the gigs, the equipment, transport to the hotels and the golden m&m's in the dressing rooms. (OK that last thing is a joke). That was fun and I'd love to do it again.
As a successful band manager I'd probably look like this. Obviously with cowboy boots and a golden Rolex.
