Hm, in a small debate elseweb with a friend. She is expressing concern that the emphasis on "Black Lives Matter" might cause other marginalized groups - Native Americans, for example - to feel that they are again being ignored or erased.
I get that saying "All lives matter" mostly serves to erase the "Black lives matter" emphasis again, and I am explaining to her that I think adding emphasis like "Brown lives matter, Red lives matter", though true, and in the larger scheme of things, necessary, mostly serves to derail the point in this particular instance.
But as we're both white, it's effectively theory for us both.
So I ask, do those of you who are people of color but not "black" feel erased or ignored by the message of "Black lives matter"?
