I don’t share anger well. I think a lot of people don’t share anger well.
Because if we let ourselves care about all the ways in which this world is horribly, terrifyingly broken, we may never see the bottom of that rabbit hole, and free falling means having no control at all. And swallowing that anger and fear all the time is exhausting.
So we pick our battles, and that means time and time again, not picking the battles that we can afford to ignore. And that means time and time again that white people don’t support people of color enough, because we’re exhausted and can afford not to.
But we can’t actually afford to ignore it.
