After the death of New Orleans photographer Ernest
Bellocq‟s in 1949 went for
the most part unnoticed, 85 glass plate negatives where found in a desk drawer in his apartment and ended up in the hands of New Orleans antique dealer Lary Borenstien. In 1966 American photographer Lee Friedlander purchased the negatives. From these negatives, Friedlander produced the prints that we know today.
