My name is Béatrice Posner. I'm a Swedish photographer and illustrator based in London, UK. I'm studying BA Photography at Middlesex University and have previously studied graphic design and photography in Sweden. My work revolves around blood and how it connects us as living beings, despite gender, skin color, religion, social class etc. I explore how our blood provides life as well as causes death and how we share these traits.
This portrait is included in a series of portraits of people with various blood conditions. As these conditions are not often seen outwardly, blood related to the person's condition has been applied onto their "perfectly normal" portrait to interfere with this "perfection". This specific portrait is of a woman who suffer from PCOS. Many women have to live with this syndrome that causes high risk of infertility, depression, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholestrol and sleep apnoea. It is a syndrome, with other related syndromes, that deserves light shed on them because of its effects on many women.
