On why electronic music seems to hit me just so:
@broxton Did a fantastic two-part lecture on sound engineering, pre-Bman. The lecture was full of awesome. But one of my favorite ideas is how electronic music is music that has no way of being expressed except through a loudspeaker. Any musician/performer prior to this medium expressed sound through an instrument of some sort. Something that vibrated the air physically. So, "symphonic music", "vocal music", etc. Here, instead, we now have "speaker music", which is kind of an amazing thing, because once you consider loudspeakers instruments, you realize that they're the most versatile and finely engineered instruments we've ever devised.
I guess that's why I like the womp womp womp :)
Here's the link to that particular point in the lecture.
