There are two scenic routes for us to take going to Los Alamos. The more southern and paved the whole way route goes by a couple of tourist attractions. We stopped at the hiking trails/campsite area below 'Battleship Rock' for a bit of a walkabout. The huge formation looms overhead and with old growth pine forest dotted with now gold aspens, much of the place is in shadow hours after sunrise. But the patchiness of the light called my attention to two delicate, wispy things: The pink and white seed head above, which i will have to Google Image search as i have no idea what it is, or what it looks like in bloom (Suggestions welcome).
And the spider web below. Looking at the two shots i took on my camera screen i wasn't sure it captured what my eye saw---the strands refracting the light. But when i loaded to PC there it was. i had to use my flash because the web was on the edge of the patch of sun and the first shot barely caught it at all...but then the flash became a substitute sunbeam for the web to split into various spots of color.
