On Wednesday 8/31/2016 i was putting the dogs out when i realized the sky had that pervasive gold glow it often get on cloudy afternoons just before sunset. Of course i grabbed the camera and captured it. This first one is looking eastward and doesn't fully do it justice.
When i walked to the north and turned west this is what i saw:
It took me a minute to realize that i was actually looking at virga (rain that evaporates before reaching the ground) that was lit up by sun (that very bright spot that when look close looks almost like a painter's downward brushstrokes.
