Wanted to write a new one, but this fit so well, perhaps too well because it uses the light/dark metaphor specifically.
We are surrounded by shadows:
If there is light, shadows skulk,
Hardly noticed except in summer
when they are welcome shade.
Working by sunlight and loving by moonlight
or vice versa if you will, take time for both.
Wish on meteors blazing across the sky
as if they carry good things to dispense.
But never be afraid of the dark:
a single match struck commands attention
and the light of the stars
travels the universe to visit us.
And even on the darkest night,
or at the bottom of the deepest pit
there is that other, stronger light~~
from the souls within and around us.
