The Left complains about violent Conservatives, the Right complains about violent Liberals, yet neither of them seem to be willing to acknowledge their own guilt.
The truth is that violence, no matter how you choose to justify it, is atrocious, immature, and it resolves nothing.
It is normal and natural to be angry at injustice, or even at things that your ignorant, hateful biases allude to being unjust. It's an emotional response to someone or something encroaching upon your beliefs and convictions who either expose them, criticise them, or violate them.
But we are beings of higher thought, so we have the capacity for self-awareness and the ability to choose the better path, to make decisions based on what we inherently know to be right and moral.
We are also a very young species in the grand scheme of things, and so we make mistakes and often never learn from them. This does not excuse anything, though. This doesn't negate our conscience or provide permission to behave irrationally when we know better.
No matter what you believe, no matter how right you feel you are about an issue, violence will never teach the lessons you want to teach. It will only reinforce the negativity, biases, and opinions of those who are against you, if not intensify them.
There is self-defence and there is violent retribution. One is justified and one is irresponsible. One is about self-preservation and one is about self-destruction.
We rise above oppression and achieve justice through vigilance, diligence and resilience, but also through maturity, sensibility, and love. We have to be better than our oppressors, not stoop to their level.
