Thinking… if simplicity is precision, it seems a proper time stamp on posts would be preferable for reference and archiving. "4d" or "6m" feels vague, requires the user to hunt down a clock or calendar and, worst of all, to know what day and time it is right now.
Seeing the actual date/time would be also more efficient and helpful in responding (for instance, knowing whether something was posted before or after the person's village was destroyed by the earthquake on Tuesday afternoon might shape my response. &cet.)
(Okay, 4m is not that hard, but think ahead to posts stamped "6y 4m 3d" and suddenly we're into higher math and banging our head to remember if that includes one Leap Year or two.)
