People keep describing in detail why they think it's important for human beings to have privacy. I wonder if anybody they reach with their words questions that. The call to encrypt everything is becoming equally useless. Everyone knows that it won't happen as long as it's neither easy and fun to use nor looking good. Let me repeat: What does an encrypted messaging service help if I can't bring the least tech-savy of my friends to use it? How do I get my friends to use it if every other week there are news about another backdoor or hack and that nothing is safe? Many people rather disconnect than encrypt.
Still those two points get repeated over and over and you can hear them, feel them getting weaker as they slowly drill and grind round by round into the brittle wood of our apathy. If you look closely you might even see the point at which their winding loop turns from critical resistance into fluffy sawdust sustaining our beds of hopelessness.
