Day 13 of #100DaysofCreativity.
I've been playing around with the graphical concept of "exit West" for years now. I was recently going back through my archive finding inspiration for upcoming posts, and came across a cool concept I had started but never finished. The original idea took the desert highway photo and layered it, giving it a distorted, "double blind" feeling. I was liking the dream-like quality so I pushed it further by cranking up the contrast - making the highway signs opaque, and giving the highway a feeling of an apocalyptic yellow brick road. But I liked the original, yellow color of the highway signs, so I replicated it as a background layer.
In finding this piece again, I wanted to complete the creative loop my 2005 self started. "EXIT WEST" now teases the way out of the dream The plain emphasis on the "exit" tells the dreamer, in plain terms, that there is a way out.
