Personally, I believe simple is better. And for most of my life I’ve subscribed to the principle that “less” truly is “more,” forever asking myself the question, “do I really need this.”
When it comes to my skin, teeth and hair, I’ve been steadfast in limiting the amount of products I use; always remembering my friend and first Boulder neighbor, Ken Furakowa who often taught me about practices as it relates to wellness and nutrition. He believed in living his life simply and without excess, the way his Asian American grandparents did in Hawaii before the war. This was a time where products were generally free of chemicals and consisted only of few, yet natural and effective ingredients.
I’ve always been a huge supporter of the Akamai Basics because this is exactly their approach—creating a line of useful products with fewer chemicals and complexity-a radically simplified, back to basics, truly natural approach. Among so many great products including their mineral toothpaste (I can’t EVER imagine using anything else), the Black Balm is a product I simply can’t live without. This plant based nutrient (nothing else) is an all purpose (truly) deep moisturizing healing balm. I use it everyday, especially before I go running as it protects my skin from all the mountain running conditions I experience. Check akamaibasics.com to see which products fit you needs.
In the meantime, I’m happy to share that my friend and founder of Akamai, Vincent Cobb, is running an investment crowdfunding campaign for this revolutionary personal care products company. PLEASE NOTE, This isn't Kickstarter — you actually get to invest in the company, and participate in their growth. Plus, they are doing a lot of social good by calling out an industry that has been ripping us off, exposing us to a sea of toxic chemicals & creating enormous environmental waste. If you want to try your hand at angel investing for as little as $100, check out his Wefunder campaign—link here.
This could be a great opportunity for so many.
