My name is Klavdia Balampanidou and am photographer currently based in Cyprus. In high school, I discovered my love for images and until now, this love remains in my life. Photography for me acts as a tool for self-exploration and gives me the opportunity to learn my own fears, barriers and pleasures. All my projects are mainly autobiographical, about my fears, my mental health, my origins, or my memories. I’m always trying to channel my personal emotions into my work.
These photographs are part of my project From Hand to Mouth. This project developed under the need for personal expression through a stressful situation, as a way to an exploration of internal turmoil and with the attempt to regain intimacy with oneself. At the same time, aims to explore issues of anxiety, depression, fragility and feelings of instability. The objects, the gestures and the bodies are in a constant dialogue, presenting the causes and the effects of this conflict and showing how painful and full of tension this process can be.
The title is a reference to Bruce Nauman same titled sculpture with wax (1967).
