Game No. 132 — August 29, 2017
Chris Sale became the fastest pitcher ever to get to 1,500 career strikeouts during his outing in Toronto on Tuesday night, catching Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar looking in the second inning. The Sox pitching staff struck out a combined 15 batters and held the Jays to just four hits all night. Sale picked up his league-leading 15th win of the season to put the Sox four games ahead of the Yankees in the A.L. East.
For every Red Sox game this season, we will be visualizing the final score. Our ground rules: scores must be posted before the first pitch of the next game and must represent the final score. New for this year: home games will be on a white background, away games on black, and the Red Sox will always be red. Follow the whole project here or get weekly recaps in your inbox.
We'll be publishing the entire season's worth of visualizations in a 6x9-inch, softcover, perfect-bound book! Preorder at foredesign.co/soxscores.
