Game No. 83 — July 3, 2017
After sending the game into extra innings, thanks to a Mike Napoli home run in the bottom of the ninth, the Rangers decided to pitch around second baseman Dustin Pedroia, who’d driven in four of Boston’s five runs to that point. That turned out to be a bad decision as Andrew Benintendi, pinch hitting for Chris Young, drove in the two winning runs in the eleventh to help his team pick up their fifth straight win.
For every Red Sox game this season, we will be visualizing the final score. Our ground rules: scores must be posted before the first pitch of the next game and must represent the final score. New for this year: home games will be on a white background, away games on black, and the Red Sox will always be red. Follow the whole project here or get weekly recaps in your inbox.
