Game No. 88 — July 8, 2017
The Red Sox were helpless against the Rays’ pitching duo of Alex Cobb and Alex Colomé. The two combined to shut out the Sox offense, allowing only three hits and three walks. Tampa Bay catcher Jesus Sucre drove in the only run of the game with a sacrifice fly to center field while Boston starter Rick Porcello became the first 11-game loser in the majors.
For every Red Sox game this season, we will be visualizing the final score. Our ground rules: scores must be posted before the first pitch of the next game and must represent the final score. New for this year: home games will be on a white background, away games on black, and the Red Sox will always be red. Follow the whole project here or get weekly recaps in your inbox.
