Game No. 150 — September 18, 2017
The Orioles piled up a five-run lead by the third inning of Monday night’s game in what looked like it would be a runaway — but the Red Sox had a different idea. Boston put up six runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and by the time the ninth inning ended, the division rivals found themselves in a tie. A two-run single in the 11th inning by Andrew Benintendi would be difference in another dramatic extra-inning win for the Red Sox.
For every Red Sox game this season, we will be visualizing the final score. Our ground rules: scores must be posted before the first pitch of the next game and must represent the final score. New for this year: home games will be on a white background, away games on black, and the Red Sox will always be red. Follow the whole project here or get weekly recaps in your inbox.
We'll be publishing the entire season's worth of visualizations in a 6x9-inch, softcover, perfect-bound book! Preorder at foredesign.co/soxscores.
