ALDS Game No. 1 — October 5, 2017
Chris Sale got off to a disappointing start in game one of the American League Division Series, giving up back-to-back home runs to the number two and three hitters in Houston’s lineup in the first inning. Making a strong case for why he should be A.L. MVP, Astros second baseman José Altuve smashed three homers, the ninth player in Major League history to accomplish the feat.
For every Red Sox game this season, we will be visualizing the final score. Our ground rules: scores must be posted before the first pitch of the next game and must represent the final score. New for this year: home games will be on a white background, away games on black, and the Red Sox will always be red. Follow the whole project here or get weekly recaps in your inbox.
We'll be publishing the entire season's worth of visualizations in a 6x9-inch, softcover, perfect-bound book! Preorder at foredesign.co/soxscores.
