Game No. 134 — August 31, 2017
Yankees’ starter CC Sabathia has been a thorn in Boston’s side all season long and Thursday night was no different. The veteran pitcher gave up only one run and struck out six in six innings of work on his way to pick up the win. The Sox were able to load the bases in the ninth inning and bring the winning run to the plate but were ultimately foiled by closer Dellin Betances.
For every Red Sox game this season, we will be visualizing the final score. Our ground rules: scores must be posted before the first pitch of the next game and must represent the final score. New for this year: home games will be on a white background, away games on black, and the Red Sox will always be red. Follow the whole project here or get weekly recaps in your inbox.
We'll be publishing the entire season's worth of visualizations in a 6x9-inch, softcover, perfect-bound book! Preorder at foredesign.co/soxscores.
