Game No. 128 — August 25, 2017
The Red Sox were hoping to shake off Thursday night’s blowout in their return to Fenway Park but instead were battered by the opposition for the second night in a row. The visiting Baltimore Orioles racked up 16 runs and 20 hits off of Boston’s pitching staff, almost half of which came in the fifth inning. Despite going 0-3 at the plate, Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out Caleb Joseph and retiring two of the other four batters he faced.
For every Red Sox game this season, we will be visualizing the final score. Our ground rules: scores must be posted before the first pitch of the next game and must represent the final score. New for this year: home games will be on a white background, away games on black, and the Red Sox will always be red. Follow the whole project here or get weekly recaps in your inbox.
We'll be publishing the entire season's worth of visualizations in a 6x9-inch, softcover, perfect-bound book! Preorder at foredesign.co/soxscores.
