Coloradans, like myself, are not used to prolonged bouts of wet, cloudy weather like we’ve had the last week or so. We thrive on sunshine. And so, I find that I always have to remind myself that the great outdoors is still gorgeous and available even when the clouds seem permanently set in.
Yesterday, I gave myself such a reminder and managed to find some dirt in the mountains, between two old mining towns, in the form of an abandoned railroad bed. The Switzerland Trail is normally considered “boring” to us dirt seekers, but on days like this, it’s magical. In several miles of climbing, I saw one hiker, and one moto. And I rode in the clouds.
Onward, because dirt.
