This old painted sign is on the backside of a downtown Huntington WV building. It's now known as the Morris Building, but it was originally the Hotel Farr when it was first constructed. Notice, the sign makes a big deal about the building being "fireproof". Ironically, the same building caught fire earlier this year. It turns out, it didn't even have a sprinkler system!
If I'm not mistaken, it's not the only fire the building has suffered over the years. The hotel used to have an underground ballroom. I remember reading online somewhere that the ballroom is now closed off. It had suffered from a fire and from water damage. That was years before the recent fire this year.
