Boulder artist Greg Ellis' paintings explore how we relate to and and interpret our world. He is especially interested in subverting the mental checklist we all use to create easy or lazy judgements. Large, boldly colored, often figurative canvases challenge and engage our eyes but paralyze the checklist. Curiosity triggers a unique and evolving relationship with each piece. Like David Salle, Ellis often creates a tension by partitioning his paintings -almost like a road map that leads you on a journey. Ellis' work has been selected to regional and national exhibitions.
