A little over a month ago I was able to get my hands on an original copy of the New York City Transit Authority Graphics Standards Manual (all pages are visible as high-res at: http://thestandardsmanual.com). I had been looking for one for some time, ever since one of our designers showed me this website a few years back.
Finally I found one and knowing that I would likely never have the opportunity to touch one again I purchased it immediately.
I brought my copy (in near mint condition) to Antiques Roadshow while they were in NYC a few months ago. Funny enough, I got kicked out of the show, but that's another story (don't worry, I promise to share soon).
I'm happy to have learned that the creators of thestandardsmanual.com have created a Kickstarter campaign with a goal to recreate a to spec version of the 1970 original. They have reached their goal and beyond, congrats to them!!!
Now most everyone can own this historical document, artifact, design mind warp.
Give their pages a look:

***Revision: I just gave the KS page a deeper look and saw they extended the number of copies being re-released, it was originally 1500. Time to get one for the living room for guests to enjoy!
