We don't watch TV at home, so for the first time in 10 years, i watched CNN news for about 30 minutes in the gym as i ran on a elliptical. The news was a couple of days old (from what i read online) but what really stuck out was the commercials featuring the advertisers message, Energy industry promising a bright future from jobs the fracking our soil, different financial institutions promising a fair share of the market, pharmaceutical companies asking us to ask our doctors for their drugs, these are the sponsors of the news programs, responsible for reaching out and informing the masses. These corporate forces are at work and their message i hope is only reaching the older generations as the gen X and younger Millenials are sort of out of their grasp for now. After a while, i gave up and watched a John Wayne Flick and watched the draft dodger prance around some BDUs. Those were simpler times, our cynicism wasn't as honed as it is now, that shit would not fly nowadays.
