URBAN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY - http://hackerweddingphotography.co.uk/urban-wedding-photography/
I suppose most people’s idea of an ideal wedding would be to get married in a big castle or country house. Creating a backdrop of affluence and wealth against which their guests enjoy themselves, transports them all for the day to an experience that probably doesn’t have much resemblance to their normal lives.
Although this is very lovely it never really gives you representation of the couple’s personalities or lifestyles. So the majority of times when you’re taking pictures in these venues you get a whole different feel of photographs usually with a large illustrious expanse of nature in the background.
For years, I’ve been photographing musicians, commissions and portraits which has given me a slightly edgier approach to wedding photography. Working on commercial shoots I have mainly used city locations and urban backgrounds to create these looks.
This is why I’ve written this blog so hopefully couples are more reassured about weddings in a city environment. These can be the most exciting places for a couple to shoot their Urban wedding photography & couple portraits.
Urban wedding photography is the most brilliant experience for the client and the photographer, giving a whole different feel to the finished product. In the city there are more backgrounds and versatility because you only need to turn around and there’s a whole new backdrop in front of you. You’re usually not that far away from amazing locations. I usually travel with the couples in a taxi to two or three different locations. This means the couples have warmed up to having their photographs taken. The next thing is to get them relaxed and having a laugh – that’s when you capture the real emotional images that represent their lives together.
What’s always particularly enjoyable about shooting in a urban environment is you get interjection from the public making. It makes the couple laugh even more when someone is hollering “congratulations” from the side-lines.
During 2018 I’m really looking for forward thinking couples who recognise the importance of wedding photography that stands out from the crowd. So if you think you’re bored of the same old wedding pictures and want to try something new and push your Urban wedding photography to a whole new level give me a holla!
